Gillis Ann Baker, 84, formerly of Clay and Madisonville, Kentucky residing in Bonita Springs, Florida went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Cecil & Vernie Buckingham. Gillis was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Jack Baker. She is survived by two loving daughters, Tonya Branson and Anita (Sam) Parish. Gillis had a deep love for her five grandchildren, Jeremy, Seth (Julia), Luke Branson (Amanda) and Emily Clark (Doug), and Lincoln Parish, as well as, twelve great-grandchildren. She earned her Bachelors degree in nursing from Kentucky Wesleyan College and worked at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, KY for many years and finished her career in Bowling Green, KY at various Urgent Care Clinics. She was a member of Who’s Who of America and a proud member of the Kentucky Colonels. Gillis was a true example of character and generosity and was a blessing to all who knew her. Last but not least, for the last four decades Gillis was an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats Basketball. A memorial service will be held on March 16, 2024 at 4pm at Legacy Vision Church in Bonita Springs, Florida. A private graveside service will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Clay, Kentucky at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to a charity of your choice.
