Jackie “Buzz” Byrum, 70, of Clay passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at Baptist Health in Madisonville.
Buzz was born on December 2, 1948 in Clay to the late Eugene and Alma Byrum. Buzz was a coal miner and worked at Island Creek for 20 years. He then went on to be the owner and operator of Byrum Construction Inc. He was a member of the American Legion Post 289 in Clay and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He is preceded in death by a daughter Lori Ann in 1971, 3 sisters Cecile Vaughn, Gloria Ann Woolsey and Linnie Lou Burton 2 brothers Tom Byrum and Jerry Byrum.
Survivors include his wife Patsy of Clay 1 daughter Angie Davis (Bart) of Valdosta, GA 1 son Gene Ray Byrum (Kim) of Clay 4 grandchildren Kaleb Byrum, Eli Byrum, Buck Davis and Birdie Davis and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 8, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay with Bro. Jeff McMain officiating. Burial to follow in Oddfellows Cemetery in Clay. Visitation will be Thursday, March 7, 2019 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and 9:00 AM till service time on Friday.
