Shirley Ross Brown, 72 of Clay passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson.
Shirley was born in Clay on August 22, 1947 to the late Guy and Effi Belle Brown.
He was in the United States Army where he was Military Police and he was in the Vietnam War.
He retired from Alcoa and recently retired after 15 years of service to the Webster County Sheriff’s Department where he was a bailiff.
He was a member of Fairview Church of Christ in Dixon and attended White Oak General Baptist Church in Clay.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife Peggy in 2007.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years Zoraya Brown of Clay, 3 sons Darrell Brown (Melissa) of Villa Rica, GA, Jason Childress (Jane) of Lexington, KY, Justin Childress and step-son Steven Albritton of Thomasville, GA 1 sister Mary Moser (Rudy) of Sebree 2 brothers Rickey Brown (Janice) of Dixon and Randy Brown (Natalie) of Sorgho, 4 grandchildren Rick Childress, Declan Childress, Eulalia Childress and Kaden Brown and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay with Bro. Greg Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dixon with Military Honors at the gravesite. Visitation will be Saturday, January 4, 2020 9:00 AM til service time at the funeral home.
