Christy Marie Whitsell, née Williams, was born on April 29, 1968, in the small town of Madisonville, where her journey began with humble roots and a heart full of kindness. She passed away on her 58th birthday, April 29, 2026, at the Lucy Smith King Care Center, leaving a legacy of love, resilience, and a tender spirit that touched everyone who knew her.
Christy’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with moments of joy, unwavering devotion to family, and a deep passion for the simple pleasures of life. Known for her warmth and gentle nature, she found community and solace by attending The Well in Providence, a place that nurtured her spirit and allowed her to share her kindness with others. Her love for gardening was more than a hobby; it was a labor of love that reflected her nurturing soul. She tended her garden with the same care and patience that she showed to those around her, cultivating not only plants but also hearts.
Above all, Christy cherished her grandchildren. Wesley, Kylee, and Lilly Campbell were the bright stars of her life, and her love for them was boundless and pure. She took pride in watching them grow, guiding them with both wisdom and gentleness, and making countless memories that will endure in their hearts forever.
Christy’s family was the foundation of her world. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Samantha Campbell, and her son-in-law, Bryan, who carry forward her legacy in their daily lives. Her parents, Jim and Alta Gooch of Providence, stood by her side through life’s many seasons, offering their steadfast love and support. She was cherished by her brothers, Shawn D. Williams (Diana) from Minnesota, and Michael R. Gooch (Rachel) of Providence, both of whom shared in the joys and sorrows of her journey. Additionally, Christy was loved by several aunts and uncles, who fondly remember her spirited nature and boundless generosity.
The loss of her two infant sons, Robert Tyler Whitsell and Wesley Blake Whitsell, who preceded her in death, was a profound sorrow that she carried quietly. Their memory remained forever in her heart, reminding all who knew her of her incredible strength and capacity to love despite overwhelming pain.
