Darrell Lee Downs, 65 of Morganfield, passed away September 2, 2023 at Morganfield Nursing and Rehab Center in Morganfield, KY.

Darrell was born in Chicago Heights, IL on October 24, 1957 to Lester and Ada Downs.

He lived in the Phoenix Metropolitan area much of his life, and was a graduate from Gilbert High School in 1975.  Mr. Downs was a night club disc jockey in the Phoenix area for many years.  He was also employed by Walsh Brothers Office Environments for 13 years as a manager in the accounting department.

While living in Morganfield he enjoyed attending both Union County Fiscal Court and the Board of Education meeting.  He was active in having published numerous articles in the local newspaper to express his views on various subjects.  He was an active member of the ACLU and the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

He is preceded in death by his father Lester Downs, Jr., 2 brothers Leslie Wayne Downs, Lester Downs and one sister Vickie Butts.

Survivors include his mother Ada Annelle Downs of Morganfield, 2 sisters Sheryl Downs of Dekoven, Shara Lee Delquadro of Steamboat, CO, 3 brothers Doug Downs and Greg Downs both of Sturgis, Lester Dwayne Delquadro of Salt Lake City, Utah life long friends Roscoe Nichols, Mark Costa and Anna Bohmler.

Graveside services will be Thursday, September 7, 2023 at White Oak Cemetery in Clay at 11:00 PM with Sister Barbara Corley officiating.
