James Ervin Hinton, 82 of Clay passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024 at his home.  James was born on February 23, 1942 in Wheatcroft to the late Charles and Mary Hinton.  He was in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. He was a coal miner at Island Creek Coal Company for over 25 years.  Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a son Jeff Hinton. Survivors include 2 sons Brian Hinton(Julie) of Clay, Chris Hinton of Wheatcroft, 1 brother Bob Hinton(Sandy) of Clay, 2 sisters June Hopper(Ronnie) of Wheatcroft, Lou Fowler of Wheatcroft 3 grandchildren Kassandra Terrell(Dustin) of Diamond, Lexi Hinton, Madison Hinton, 2 great-grandchildren Cody and Holden Terrell.

Memorial Services will be Sunday, December 15, 2024 at  2:00 PM at Vanover Funeral Home with Brother Dale Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM till service time.
