Joe Neil Witherspoon

Joe Neil Witherspoon, 93 of Providence passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026 at his home.

Joe was born in Providence on December 14, 1932 to the late Bert and Naomi Witherspoon.

Joe was in the United States Navy for 4 years where he was on the USS Delta and he was in the Korean War. After his service in the Navy he was a mail carrier in Providence for 37 years; He was a lifelong member of Victory Baptist Church in Providence where he was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Juanita and a granddaughter Johnna McKinsey. Survivors include 2 daughters Gracie McKinsey (Johnny), Jo Nell Blanford (Danny) all of Providence; son Tommy Witherspoon (Linda) of Madisonville; sister Linda Skinner (Tom) of Sullivan; grandchildren Emily Abbot, Zachary McKinsey, Josh Blanford (Cathy Lee), Jessie Cooper (Jon), Jamey Blanford (Dava), Niki Massey, Kristen Holmes (Eddie); 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Sunday, August 9 2026 at 2:00 PM at Vanover Funeral home in Clay with Brother Terry Rhye officiating. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery. Visitation will Saturday, August 9, 2026 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM and 10:00 AM till service time at the funeral home.
