Martha Ellen Horning, 77, passed away peacefully at Shemwell Healthcare in Providence KY on March 9, 2021.

Martha was born at her grandmother's home in Blackford, Ky on January 27, 1944 and lived her life on her family's farm in Webster County near Blackford.

Martha graduated from Crittenden County High School and Murray State University after which she enjoyed a long career teaching elementary school in Shawneetown, IL.

Martha was a member of Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She is preceded in death by her mother Hilda Drennan Horning, her father Wilbur Brown Horning, and her brother David Brown Horning.

Survivors include her nephew David Horning and wife Vickie Horning of Hot Springs AR and her her niece Randi Horning Kelly and husband David Kelly of Dallas TX.

Martha loved spending time with her family and will be remembered as a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt.  She was a strong presence in our lives, and we will cherish the memories of Martha playing the piano for us, inspiring us to a life-long love of learning and reading, and caring for her beloved pets.

Time of gathering and fellowship with a meal will be Noon Thursday March 25, 2021 at Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
