Phyllis Ann Nichols

Phyllis Ann Nichols, aged 89, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Palmer Place. Born on February 25, 1937, to the late Thomas and Willie Mae Perryman, Phyllis was a cherished member of the Providence General Baptist Church for many years.

Phyllis is predeceased by her beloved husband, Ollie Nichols; her daughter, Greta Legate; and her sisters, Helen Cole, Jeannie Webb, Doris Kirk, Carol Bragdon, Donna Young, as well as her brothers Thomas “Lynn” Perryman, Oliver “Pick” Perryman, and Jerry Perryman.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter Mindy Thomas and husband Brian, her son Greg Legate and wife Melanie, grandchildren Tyler Noffsinger (Faith), Adam Legate and wife Jamie, Cassidy Brumfiel and husband Ben, Paige Black and husband Landon, along with great-grandchildren Griffin Legate, Greer Legate, Evyn Brumfiel, Dean Brumfiel, and Halston Black.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay, followed by burial at Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
