Ray Vernon Winstead 87, of Clay, KY passed away Monday September 14, 2015 at Maristone Assisted Living in Franklin, TN. He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church in Clay, KY where he served as a deacon and usher for many years. He was an Air Force Korean War Veteran. While in the Air Force he was in the military police and was stationed in England, North Africa, and California. He was preceded in death by his wife Magalene in 2005, his son Darrel in 2011, and his brother Bill in 2011. He is survived by his daughters Marcia Dowdy and her husband Todd of Fairhope, AL and Tamara Outland and her husband Mike of Franklin, TN. Grandchildren are Megan Dowdy and Rebecca Dowdy both of Fairhope, AL. and Michael Winstead of San Antonio, TX. Mr Winstead also survived by his sister Ann Ramage and her husband James of Cold Spring, KY, Sisters in law and their husbands Marcella Hobgood and her husband Merle of Dixon, KY and Loretta Edwards and her husband Johnnie of Bloomington, IN. Funeral services will be conducted Friday September 18, 2015 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Clay, KY, with Dr. Lee James and Bro. James Taylor officiating, and burial to follow in Oddfellows Cemetery in Clay, KY. Visitation will be Thursday 4:30 to 8:00 PM at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay, KY and Friday 10:00 AM until service time at First Baptist Church in Clay, KY.
