Shirley Ann Melton, 82 of Diamond, KY passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Baptist Health in Madisonville, KY.

Shirley was born on February 5, 1935 to Virgil and Alma Vaughn.  She was a member of Diamond Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years.  She worked at Hoover in Providence, KY for many years and was very involved in the United Steel Workers Union.  For a period of time she was recording secretary for the United Steelworkers of America.  Shirley was also very talented seamstress.

She is preceded in death by 1 sister Patt Williams and 1 brother Buddy Vaughn.

Survivors include 2 daughters Sheree Clark (Rickey) of Diamond, KY Kristie Dunbar of Diamond, KY 1 son Troy Melton (Vickie) of Madisonville, KY 4 grandchildren Brandon Brown, Buffy Dailey, Lindsey Royster and Kipland Melton and 5 great-grandchildren Mallory Dailey, Lane Dailey, Ashton Brown, Andrew Brown and Eleanor Royster

Funeral services will be Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay, KY with Bro. Ralph Alexander and Bro. Micah Kelley will be officiating.  Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery in Clay, KY.  Visitation will be Sunday 10:00 AM til service time.
