William "Billy" Mayes, 55 of Greenville passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 6:45 AM at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.  Billy was born on September 16, 1968 to Nolan and Carolyn Mayes in Chicago, IL.  He enjoyed traveling to many states as an employee of Pittsburg Tank and Tower.  Billy liked to spend his time hunting, fishing, drawing portraits and mushroom hunting.  He loved riding his Harley and got to ride the Tail of the Dragon in Tennessee this past June with a great group of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Nolan Mayes and grandmother Evelyn McElvain

in 2002.  Survivors include his mother Carolyn Mayes of Greenville, 2 sisters Lisa Mayes of Greenville and Linda Gmuca (Frank) of Riverview, FL, and brother Jason Mayes (Pam) of Sacramento and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Friday, September 13, 2024 at 7:00 PM at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay.  Visitation will be Friday 6:00 PM till service time at the funeral home.
