Gerald Papineau, 85 of Clay, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023 at his home.
He was born in Kankakee, IL on August 25, 1937 to the late Henry and Elizabeth Papineau. Gerald was employed at the Clay Grain Elevator many years ago, he did custom backhoe work for the City of Clay and the City of Providence, he retired from Dotiki after working there for over 25 years, he enjoyed being on his farm and he was a member of Moose Lodge #732 in Henderson, VFW Post #5484 in Providence and American Legion Post #289 in Clay, what he enjoyed most was a very cold Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Along with his parents Gerald is preceded in death by a son Glenn Papineau in 2021, grandson Gerald Paul Papineau II in 2017, 2 sisters Bertha Mae Rabideau and Alberta Krumweide.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years Monica, 2 daughters Linda Hamilton (Gary) of Clay, Valerie Travis of Eddyville, son Gerald Paul Papineau (Lori) of Clay, sister Penny Henson (Rick) of Metropolis, IL, brother Ralph Papineau (Linda) of Leitchfield Park, AZ, 12 grandchildren Joshua Rich, Rachel Wingo (Nathan), Rebecca Braden (Jason Horning), Amanda Brown (Jeff), Megan Chappell (Greg) Michael Travis, John Michael Papineau (Yelle), Christian Hayes (Kenny), Chloe Papineau, Katrina Dawson (Matt), Heather Shelton (James), Glenn Alan Papineau (Andrea), 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay with Brother Barry Cullen officiating. Burial will be in New Clay Cemetery in Clay. Visitation will be Thursday 10:00 AM till service time at the funeral home.
