Gerry Lee Vaughn
August 3, 1941 ~ February 12, 2023 (age 81) 81 Years Old
Gerry Vaughn, 81 of Clay passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at his home.
Gerry was born in Providence on August 3, 1941 to the late Woodie and Helen Vaughn.
Gerry was in the United States Navy where he was a member of the Naval Ceremonial Honor Guard during the term of President John F. Kennedy. He was at one time a guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier in Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D.C. He was a coal miner and retired from Hamilton Mines and he was a member of Redeeming Love General Baptist Church in Clay where he was an honorary deacon.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Cecile in 2017, a daughter Heather Stone in 2021 and a son Billy Vaughn in 2003.
Survivors include a daughter Robin Vaughn (Angela) of Panama City, FL, 2 sisters Pam Farber (Mark) of Providence, Janice Vaughn of Cadiz, a brother Mike Vaughn of Madisonville, close family friend and caregiver Stella Vanvactor of Hanson, 6 grandchildren Wesley Vaughn (Alejandro), Cole Vaughn (Emily) all of Louisville, Hannah Pitt (Kaden) of Oak Grove, McKinlee Benson of Madisonville, Wyatt Wetzel of Panama City, FL, Winston Stone of Clay, daughter-in-law Kim Vaughn Plain of Owensboro, son-in-law Scott Stone and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Redeeming Love General Baptist Church in Clay with Bro. Glenn Jenkins and Bro. Earl Reeves officiating.
Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Clay with Military Rites at the gravesite. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 15, 2023 8:30 till service time at the church.
