Greg "Coach" Sutton

Greg “Coach” Sutton, 67 of Dixon passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 in Dixon.

Greg was born in Morganfield on February 8, 1956, he graduated from Union County   High School, Class of 1975, he worked at Island Creek and Dotiki (Alliance Coal) for 31 years, he was head coach of girls softball at Crittenden County High School, South Eastern Illinois College, Webster County High School along with several travel teams and summer leagues and finished up his coaching career giving catching lessons in Georgetown the last 3 years, a total of 33 years.  His greatest accomplishments were his children and his grandchildren, he was a member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Hanson.

He is preceded in death by his mother Anna Dean Boswell and grandson Landon Grigg.

Survivors include his significant other Joy Sutton of Dixon, 2 daughters Kristy Owens (Dustin) of Nortonville, Misty Riley of Mayfield, 1 son Heath Sutton (Brandy) of Georgetown, 1 sister Karen Sutton of Newburgh, 6 grandchildren Madison Grigg, Katelynn Owens, Dylan Riley, Jaci Riley, Emma Sutton, Avery Sutton and Judd Sutton and he loved his dog "Snickers".

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 4:00 PM at Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Hanson with Bro. Gary Taylor and Bro. Ron Heady officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday 12:00 PM till service time at the church.
