James Garlan Gibson 74, of Clay passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Deaconess Midtown in Evansville. Garlan was born on October 16, 1948 in Clay to the late James “Skinny” Gibson and Mayme Rich. He was a member of Living Faith Christian Center in Wheatcroft. He had a great love for motorcycles and Cardinals Baseball. He was a coal miner and worked for Webster County Coal “Dotiki” for 44 years.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years Ellen Gibson, 2 sons Scott Tudor (Alena) of Smyrna, Tennessee, Jamy Brock Gibson (Ashley) of Clay, 1 brother Bobby Gibson of Kuttawa, 4 grandchildren Destiny Fields, McCalin Tudor, Jayden Gibson, and Bria Gibson. 2 nieces Gina Day and Karen Haynes Owens.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 12;00 PM at Vanover Funeral Home with Brother Rick Oakley officiating with burial to follow in Oddfellows Cemetery in Clay. Visitation will be Friday, April 14, 2023 from 2:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Vanover Funeral Home and from 9:00 AM till service time at the funeral home.
