James “Jim” Gass, 84 of Clay passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Crittenden Community Hospital in Marion.
Jim was born on October 6, 1936 in Marion to the late Orlan and Imogene Gass.
He worked as a mechanic for M & M Auto Service in Evansville, finishing his working career at Dotiki in Clay with 27 years as a mechanic and operator. He also played lead guitar in several different bands including the Lonesome Valley Boys. He attended Wheatcroft Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Wheatcroft where he loved his church family.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Wilma, a son Melvin Clark, a daughter Brenda Gass, 3 sisters Fanny Fritts, Ruby Bingham, Sue Beliles and 2 brothers Hubert Gass and Ted Gass.
Survivors include 4 daughters Tina Newcom (Perry) of Marion, Janet Cain (Doug) of Columbia, TN, Vicki Cherette of Madisonville and Terry Crowell (James) of Nebo, 3 sons Wayne Gass (Janet) of Sturgis, Bobby Gass (Sue) of Owensboro and Jimmy Dale Gass (Jackie) of Onton, 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held.
